Dr Paul Comartin (Principal Dentist)
Dr. Paul Comartin is the Principal Dentist at Heritage Family Dental in Nelson, BC. Specializing in comprehensive care, from preventive to cosmetic services, he leads his team with a commitment to meticulous, compassionate, and patient-centered dentistry. Dr. Comartin is known for truly listening to his patients and treating them like family. He maintains a high standard of care, continually advancing his skills through education, following his foundational studies at Western University and the University of Toronto.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Comartin is an active member of the Nelson community. Originally from a large family in South Western Ontario, he enjoys spending his free time with his 18 nephews and nieces and pursuing his passion as a talented singer-songwriter. His blend of professional dedication and warm personal engagement defines his practice.

Dr. Fred Pockrass
Dr. Fred Pockrass is a highly experienced and uniquely focused restorative and general dentist who has been practicing since graduating from McGill University in 1981. A true innovator, he is best known as a pioneer of eco-friendly dentistry, having co-founded the Eco Dentistry Association (EDA) in 2008 and established the first certified green dental office in the country (Transcendentist in Berkeley, CA) in 2003. With extensive experience Dr. Pockrass’ philosophy centres on Wellness, Beauty, and Transformation, creating a uniquely relaxing, and client-centred dental experience. He is committed to making every patient an expert in their own oral well-being.

Alison (Office Manager)
Alison moved to the Nelson area 26 years ago to join the team at Heritage Family Dental. She began as a certified dental assistant but throughout the years recognized her love to lead and manage, and be the first line of communication with patients. She loves interacting with patients and staff. Alison is the office manager, leading a team of amazing dental professionals. On her time off, she enjoys camping, kayaking, cooking and painting.

Stacey (CDA)
Meet Stacey, a 34-year old certified dental assistant with a fresh start in her career. Originally from Fort McMurray, Alberta, Stacey has called Nelson home for the past 12 years. Prior to her dental journey, she was a dedicated entrepreneur, running her own dog business for 10 years.
Stacey has now ventured into the world of dental assisting, where her passion for precision and patient care shines through. When she’s not in the office, you’ll find her embracing the natural beauty of British Columbia. Stacey is an outdoor enthusiast, relishing in activities like snowboarding, hiking, gardening, and foraging. Her loyal canine companion often joins her on these adventures, making every moment in the great outdoors even more special. Stacey’s dedication to her new career and her love for the outdoors makes her a well-rounded and compassionate individual, both in and out of the dental office.

Sabrina (CDA)
Sabrina spent the majority of her childhood in the Nelson area. She moved away to pursue a career in ballet, on tour with the Nutcracker. She decided she wanted a more stable lifestyle and went to school in Cranbrook to become a certified dental assistant. Sabrina graduated the program in 2021, and has been at Heritage Family Dental every since. On her spare time, she loves to go to the gym, read a good book, and play video games.
Sabrina loves her work team and can always be seen with a big smile on her face!

Sydney (Chairside Assistant)
Sydney has been a dedicated member of the Heritage Family Dental team for over five years. As a dental assistant, she is committed to creating a comfortable and welcoming experience for every patient, ensuring their needs are understood and supported throughout their visit.
In March of this year, Sydney expanded her role to include reception, where she enjoys connecting with patients and helping their appointments run smoothly.
Sydney is passionate about delivering high-quality care and contributing to a positive, supportive environment for both patients and colleagues. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends

Jade (Hygienist)
Jade recently moved from Cranbrook to Nelson after graduating from hygiene school in 2022. She decided to become a hygienist because she loves patient care, and working in a team environment.
Jade has a passion for hiking, paddle boarding and photography. She also enjoys live music and finding all the great places to eat! She can’t wait to explore more of Nelson and what it has to offer.

Dallas (Hygienist)
Dallas grew up in Salmo Skiing, swimming and fishing. He moved away from the beautiful area a few times but was always drawn back to the kootenay life. AFter many labour intensive jobs, he took the dental hygiene program at Camosun College in Victoria. 20+ years later, it has been a great career choice that suits his personality. He has met so many wonderful people living interesting lives.
